Bratt grew up in San Francisco, the son of a Peruvian mother and an American father of German, English and Austrian descent. As a child he participated with his mother and siblings in the 1969 Native American occupation of Alcatraz, and is an active supporter of Native American causes to this day. He went to Lowell High School where he was a member of the Lowell Forensic Society. He later graduated with a BFA at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Although he was accepted into the MFA program at the American Conservatory Theater, he left before graduating in order to star in the TV film “Juarez” (1987), which was his first role. On the other hand, one of Benjamin’s first TV series was “Nasty Boys”(1989-90), following by “Texas”(1994), and eventually “Law&Order”(1995-99) which perhaps remains his most notable role. However, Bratt also received two Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Screen Combo in “The Next Best Thing” (with Madonna) and “Catwoman” (with Halle Berry), but was then rewarded for his performance in the TV series “The Cleaner”, receiving a PRISM and and ALMA Award in 2009. The same year, he starred in another of his brother’s film “La Mission” as Che Rivera, and for this role he won an Imagen Award for Best Actor. His other notable roles include the ones in “Blood In Blood Out”, “The People Speak”, “ The Lesser Blessed”, “Despicable Me 2”. All have helped his net worth to rise.
